A "derelict vehicle" is a vehicle (car, truck, motorcycle, etc.) that is no longer operational. It is a vehicle that has been discarded or abandoned and will not be repaired.

If you have a derelict vehicle that you want removed, the Municipality of Chester will remove it, free-of-charge, if you meet the conditions as outlined below. An application must be completed BY THE OWNER for each vehicle to be collected. If you are not the owner, you may still be authorized to complete the application - please call for any special conditions that may apply.

CONDITIONS
• Car parts will not be collected unless they are inside a vehicle. For example, a fender may be placed inside the vehicle, but it will not be collected on its own.

• A derelict vehicle will not be collected if household garbage is placed inside.

• Up to five (5) used tires are accepted along with the derelict vehicle.

• Vehicles must be easily accessible for the removal equipment.

• A maximum of five (5) derelict vehicles will be collected unless special arrangements have been made through the Public Works Department.

The application can be downloaded below or you can drop by our office at 151 King Street in Chester (Room 212); or call (902) 275-1312. Return your completed application to: Public Works Department, Municipality of the District of Chester, 151 King Street, PO Box 369 , Chester NS B0J 1J0  or fax it to (902) 275-3673 or email it to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
